Optima strengthens Indian footprint with Pune site expansion

The company will hire 40 engineering specialists to expand its presence in both the Indian and wider APAC market

Pharmaceutical packaging and filling expert Optima is expanding its operations in India with an expansion at its Pune site. 

Notably, the Optima Group has hired 40 engineering specialists from Eckstein, building on the company's technical expertise in process development.

These skilled individuals will also offer valuable regional expertise to the company, helping to cement its presence within the Indian market. 

"This decision is more than just a personnel expansion, it's a strategic investment in global proximity, technological excellence and sustainable growth," commented Optima's CEO, Stefan König. 

Pune is one of India's leading technology hubs, attracting a wide highly qualified engineers. 

"By enhancing our footprint in Pune — a strong engineering hub — we are boosting our operations right at the heart of the Asian market. Our cusromers will now benefit from even more technical expertise, delivered in an efficient manner," he added.

 

Entering a market full of opportunities 

With a population of approximately 1.4 billion and a fast-growing pharmaceutical presence, India is becoming one of the most attractive markets worldwide, according to OPTIMA International's Managing Director, Christoph Mueller, who aims to "seize the opportunities this market offers." 

The company has already been active in the country since 2011, with its own Bangalore subsidiary currently active in the market.

"We want to be even closer to our customers around the world, while also expanding our technological leadership," commented Koenig.

The Pune site will be led by Akshay Chikodi, the company's previous Director of Sales & Service. With his local roots and global perspective, Optima hopes he will further develop the facility.
