Ken Morrow has joined tablet coating equipment manufacturer Coating Systems International as technical director. He will work closely with the current Coating Systems team and its customers in both the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.

Paul Bradley has been promoted from senior product chemist to the position of kilolab manufacturing manager at Fisher Scientific UK. He will also act as project manager for selected high quality assurance level contract synthesis work.

Biovation, of Aberdeen in the UK, a member of the Merck KGaA group, has appointed Dr Anita Hamilton as vice president, therapeutic antibody discovery. Dr Hamilton was involved in developing Biovation's DeImmunisation technology and she and her team have been responsible for applying it to a range of therapeutic antibodies and proteins, especially in partnerships with leading biotech and pharma companies.

Meanwhile Dr Koen Hellendoorn has been made director of global technology alliances. He will work closely with Hank Nowak, Biovation's director of business development, as part of a new global business unit within the company. Dr Hellendoorn moves from his position of research manager at Biovation, where he has been responsible for discovery of novel biologics using DeImmunisation technology.

Alfa Laval has appointed Matt Hale to the position of business unit manager of the sanitary division, which supplies pumps valves and other components for sanitary applications across a range of sectors, including biotech and related industries. Meanwhile, Alfa Laval Pumps has appointed Russell Kelly as regional manager Europe, responsible for the management of its SSP Pumps brand's distribution channels in Europe.

Ultrasonic specialist Ultrasonic Technology has expanded its technical team with the addition of a new product specialist, Dr Katy Dwyer She brings specialist knowledge of how high-resolution ultrasonic spectroscopy can be applied to the analysis and characterisation of colloidal systems.

Bede plc, a leader in the design and manufacture of specialist X-ray instruments and associated software, has appointed a new director to the board. William George Flecky, currently ceo of Bede Scientific, Bede's US subsidiary, has been promoted to the position of president and ceo of Bede Inc, and to the Bede board as an executive director.
