Perforated packs increase line speed
US desiccant specialist Desiccare has launched perforated continuous strip PillowPak desiccants for vitamin and pharmaceutical processors looking to control moisture, odour and gas in packaged products. Designed for use with automated bandolier inserting equipment at speeds of up to 240 bottles/minute, the new perforated continuous strip PillowPaks are said to contribute to increased line speeds and reduced labour costs while maximising product quality. They complement Desiccare's existing range of PillowPak desiccants, which includes individually cut PillowPaks and continuous strip PillowPaks for use with automated dispensing equipment.
According to the company, vitamin and pharmaceutical processors are increasingly looking to move away from the use of cotton in packages to eliminate the moisture inherent in the material and improve product shelf life and product quality. Many processors are also switching from canister-style to packet-style desiccants to reduce material costs and eliminate the liability issues associated with consumers accidentally ingesting the canister desiccant.
The compact PillowPaks feature controlled porosity, non-dusting and non-linting qualities, says Desiccare.
