Precision checkweighing from TGK on tablet line

Contract packer TD Packaging has installed a RX9000 checkweighing system from Thermo Goring Kerr.

The in-line pharmaceutical checkweigher is part of a brand new line put in by TD Packaging which is initially running cartons of blister packed tablets each containing a patient information leaflet. While checking for both over and under weights, a high level of precision is needed to detect the absence of a leaflet.

More products will be introduced on the new line in the near future. 'This will be expanded further to make us of the RX9000,'s ability to store parameters of up to 100 different products,' said Andy Hodges, TD Packaging's engineering manager.

The RX9000 is a monoblock unit built primarily of stainless steel and designed for use in the pharmaceutical industry. It is able to weigh packages as light as two grams with accuracy better than +/-50mg.
