When isolating pharmaceuticals in their intermediate or final form, certain products and processes require separation and drying in a single machine and Heinkel has recently developed a centrifuge dryer that combines these two steps.

As well as being used for the classic solid-liquids separation, the Heinkel Centrifuge Dryer HD was developed for processes where the solid needs to be dried inside the centrifuge bowl. It is used as a fixed bed, turbulent layer, mixing or vacuum dryer. Processes like deodorising the solid in the fluidised bed or changing functional molecule groups of the product can also be carried out. The Heinkel Centrifuge Dryer HD also offers a way of eliminating the risk of inadvertent release of highly active potentially toxic substances. Additional applications include the isolation of products sensitive to oxidisation, which requires an inert atmosphere throughout the process, and light sensitive products which require the exclusion of light during the process.
