Ricerca and Siegfried form custom alliance

US drug development company Ricerca has formed a strategic alliance with Siegfried, a Swiss integrated pharmaceutical manufacturing and service company, headquartered in Zofingen, and with manufacturing sites in Switzerland and the US.

The two companies will collaborate on active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) chemical development and manufacturing projects for their pharma industry clients.

According to the terms of the two-year, renewable agreement, Ricerca will provide process chemistry, development, scale-up, and API production services through to Phase II of the clinical development programme for their clients' projects.

These projects may then be transferred to Siegfried for Phase III clinical trials and commercial API and dosage form manufacturing.

'We are pleased to add Siegfried to our growing network of complementary manufacturing alliances,' said Walter E. Stalzer, Ricerca's vp, process development & engineering. 'In addition to API manufacturing expertise, Siegfried can develop and produce oral dose forms of our clients' drugs.'
