Rosti's healthcare management solutions

Multinational precision plastics company, Rosti has launched Healthcare Management Solutions (HMS) for medical and healthcare professionals. Developed within its new Medical Plastics business unit, the company says HMS is a new concept in providing a total management solution for the control and monitoring of consumer treatments and health conditions. The system already exists as a proof of concept demonstrator, with the ability to link medical devices, diagnostics and interactive communications, to deliver a comprehensive platform for better understanding and responding to the status of the individual.

HMS enables each single intake of medication or diagnostic measurement to be stored electronically in the device and communicated externally when connected. Medical data is transferred securely to the Internet either directly via a phone or via a PC. The individual patient's compliance and condition may then be displayed at the patient's PC, PDA, mobile 'phone or docking station.

This same data may also be transferred to pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals, enabling fully customised corrective actions and reporting to be carried out against individual cases, and to monitor data across a wider sample for investigative and trial-based data, for example.

Rosti combines its in-mould assembly technology, electronics miniaturisation technology, data-capture and encryption, data warehousing and product recovery to provide a whole of life monitoring capability.

Rosti Medical Plastics anticipates exponential growth for HMS in the pharmaceutical industry, through market expansion for new and current treatments, combined with the review of older, proven medications to incorporate superior patient management capabilities. It may also have application in clinical trials.
