Schreiner MediPharm solution offers high first-reading rate

The RSS (Reduced Space Symbology) code allows large volumes of data to be stored in an extremely small space. The patient's data and medical history are stored in a database, while all the pertinent information relating to the drug is stored in the RSS code. In the US, the RSS code printed on pharmaceutical packs is the standard US National Drug Code. This 10-digit code contains encrypted information about the seller, product and pack size.

Prior to administration of the drug, healthcare staff use a barcode scanner to match the drug-related information to the patient-related data stored on a PC. The system is capable of detecting potential problems, such as overdosing or a patient's allergies to particular substances, and provides a warning.

German company Schreiner Medi-Pharm produces high quality RSS code labels which are said to offer a very high first-reading rate.
