Rutges Cargo has combined its security transport, control and visibility systems, temperature-controlled vehicle fleet and European network to launch a product for pharmaceutical distribution.
The product has been developed specifically for healthcare companies, according to Jason Breakwell, Rutges Cargo's commercial manager. "The transportation market for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals continues to grow even in these challenging times, driven by regulatory and product demands such as the increase in the number of biotech products that need temperature control," he said.
Rutges Cargo's modern and increasingly environmentally friendly vehicle fleet enables active temperature monitoring with on-line tracking and excursion alarms. A single vehicle can transport shipments with different characteristics, including products that have to be controlled in 2-8°C and 15-25°C environments. The company also operates compartment trailers that can separate shipments according to temperature and temperature-controlled small vans for smaller shipments and urgent deliveries.
Breakwell added: "In the past 2-3 years, we have made a significant investment in our temperature-controlled vehicle fleet, developed risk-specific modular security solutions designed to prevent loss and damage, established information systems to provide "real time" vehicle tracking and monitoring, and personnel training. This means we can now offer healthcare companies an innovative approach to reduce costs and add value for the distribution of their products throughout Europe."
