Sanofi-aventis has become the largest shareholder in pharmaceutical company Zentiva, headquartered in the Czech Republic.
Sanofi-aventis has become the largest shareholder in pharmaceutical company Zentiva, headquartered in the Czech Republic.
Zentiva develops, manufactures and markets branded pharmaceutical products in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania and is growing rapidly in Poland, Russia and the Baltic States. The group employs over 4,000 people and has production facilities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania.
Sanofi-aventis has purchased the all the shares held by Warburg Pincus and is now the largest shareholder. The management of Zentiva continues to own around 5.8% of the company.
The multinational has agreed to invest in Zentiva and sees the purchase as strategic in building its Eastern and Central European business.
