Multi-Level product authentication
The specialty label from Schreiner MediPharm integrates various analog and digital security features for reliable authentication. Overt security features, such as ShiftSecure with its positive-negative effect depending on the viewing angle, can be verified directly by visual inspection. They are complemented by semi-covert features such as microtext and InfraredSecure as well as digital functions like covert, smartphone-readable printed codes, or integrated NFC technology. They enable multi-level authentication for various stakeholders along the supply chain, from the pharmaceutical manufacturer to the patient. In addition, the digital features can be used for geo-tracking to improve detection and tracking of counterfeiting and gray market activities.
Tampering clearly detectable
A key element of the solution is the irreversible first-opening indication feature. Because the label covers part of the pen cap, any opening attempt becomes permanently visible. Optionally, this first-opening evidence can also be delivered digitally via NFC plus a smartphone. At the same time, the design prevents undetected recapping and illegal reuse of the label. The special label construction permanently protects all product information against abrasion. In an attempt to remove the label, parts of the printed layer will remain so that the pen cannot be reused illegally.
Convenience and brand visibility
In addition to the security functions, Schreiner MediPharm’s label improves the user friendliness of the devices. Due to the extended label area, more space is available for product information, larger font, and customized design. The integration of an NFC chip opens up additional opportunities for digital services and interactive user support. The functional label is tailored to each customer’s requirements and complements existing platform devices of pen and autoinjector manufacturers by additional functions.
