Senn and Flamma set up marketing jv
Swiss company Senn Chemicals and Flamma, of Chignolo d'Isola in Italy, have formed a joint venture company to co-ordinate their marketing activities, from the search for new projects to feasibility studies in the r&d labs of both partners.
The two privately owned companies formed an alliance two years ago, and this has been so successful that they have decided to take the arrangement a step further.
The new company, called Senn Flamma Marketing (SFM), will be based in Cachan, near Paris in France, where Senn Chemicals International is also based. Initially it will operate mainly as a service company, but it is planned to integrate the sales forces of both companies into the new structure in the near future. Albert Loffet, sales and marketing director at Senn Chemicals, has been appointed president of the new business.
The companies, which are similar in size, areas of operation and culture, have stressed that there is no likelihood of a merger. Senn Chemicals is active in amino-acid derivatives, carbohydrates, reagents and resins for solid phase synthesis, and is increasingly specialising in synthesis of protected peptide fragments. Flamma is a cGMP registered manufacturer of active ingredients and intermediates for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, particularly protected and activated amino acids.
