Size matters from Malvern

Published: 1-Apr-2003

Malvern Instruments will show the latest Zetasizer systems for submicron particle size analysis, zeta potential and molecular weight measurement at this year's ACHEMA.

Also on display will be the versatile Mastersizer 2000 particle sizing system and the PharmaVision 830 automated particle shape and size analyser for the analysis of pharmaceutical powders and blends. On screen will be demonstrations of the Spraytec system, which features a new actuator that enables the complete testing of nasal spray systems following FDA guidance.

The Malvern Mastersizer 2000 is a flexible, modular particle sizing system that measures in the size range 0.02 µm to 2000 µm. With the ability to measure wet or dry, and capable of handling samples ranging from milligram quantities to the measurement of bulk chemicals and minerals, it has widespread application throughout manufacturing industry and academia. An integrated autosampler eliminates the need for manual sampling, minimising errors and enabling round the dock operation.

The PharmaVision B30 particle shape and size analyser has new software that enables users to meet FDA requirements for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance. Key features offered by Malvern's software include more rigorous authority checks, and safeguards against unauthorised access and use of the system.

Using microscopy techniques, the PharmaVision 830 performs automated analysis on dry powders and powder blends. It can characterise particles as small as 0.5µm, analysing around 20000 particles in under15 minutes.
