Typically, stainless steel butterfly valves for general pipe-work use are used in powder handling applications because few valve systems are designed specifically with powder control in mind.

The company believes that the SteriValves system, for which it is sole UK distributor, addresses all the faults of standard butterfly valve design. The following, it claims, make SteriValves a leader in valve technology:

• Reduced weight;

• Slim wafer design;

• Wide choice of seal materials;

• Easy cleaning;

• Modular design;

• Interchangeability

Main benefits over traditional stainless steel butterfly valves are the compact wafer style valve body and the possibility of total valve strip-down without tools using the clamp-style body option, Hanningfield stresses. The compact wafer design, free of recesses and crevices in the product area coupled with easy disassembly, allows total cleaning of the valve between production batches.

SteriValves products can be customised to suit the customer's specific application. Materials, dimensions and a range of seal materials conforming to FDA CFR 177.2600 NORMS can all be specified.

Furthermore, to assist pharmaceutical customers, a comprehensive documentation package can be supplied with each valve.
