Sterling Biotech acquires gelatin business

Sterling Biotech, the largest manufacturer and exporter of pharmaceutical gelatin in India, has bought the gelatin business of Rallis India in an all cash deal worth Rs47 crore (€8m). With this deal Sterling acquires Rallis's existing gelatin business, which is claimed to account for 25% of the domestic market, together with its 2,200 tonne capacity manufacturing facility located at Ooty in Tamil Nadu.

Rallis has disposed of the gelatin business to enable it to focus on its core businesses of agrochemicals and fine chemicals.
