Tessenderlo Chemie

Belgian chemicals group Tessenderlo Chemie is to build a new electrolysis unit, which should be operational by the end of 2004. It will use membrane technology and will extend Tessenderlo's chlorine capacity at the site from 250,000 tonnes to at least 330,000 tonnes/year. The additional chlorine will be used on the site and will also meet the growing demand for toluene derivatives which are used extensively in fine chemical applications.
