A Centre of Excellence for the pharmaceutical industry has been launched as a major feature of the Total Processing and Packaging 2004 exhibition.

TOTAL PHARMA will offer visitors and exhibitors the opportunity to discuss and view visual representations of all the crucial issues affecting the pharmaceutical packaging and processing industry, while also benefiting from the opportunity to explore the cross-fertilisation of technologies between different market sectors.

Supported by the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), Manufacturing Chemist and its sister title Cleanroom Technology, the Centre will offer a series of seminars and workshops organised by ISPE covering such topics as: Cleaning and Cleaning Validation - Food and Pharma; Common Areas of Interest in Processing and Packaging Technology; Hygienic Processing Equipment; Innovation in Process Equipment Design - Alternative Systems and Materials; Equipment Automation - Regulatory expectations; and Computer System Solutions.

There will also be interactive features exploring openability; legislation; outsourcing; process and performance improvements including quality control and traceability; and pharmaceutical engineering.

Total Processing & Packaging 2004, a joint venture between Reed Exhibition Companies (REC) and the PPMA, comprises the REC exhibitions Pakex, Interphex and Eurochem, and the PPMA's Machinery Only Show. It will take place at the NEC, Birmingham, UK, from 29 March to 1 April 2004.
