Chemie Uetikon has invested some US$20m (€22.35m) in a new state-of-the-art GMP production plant for fine chemical intermediates and APIs at its Lahr site in Germany. The new multipurpose-facility will operate in different, completely enclosed reaction trains, with the newest separation and drying equipment in clean air environment. The modular technical strategy will allow the plant to expand gradually to meet the needs of the pharmaceutical industry.

The new facility has been designed for the production of a broad spectrum of different APIs and fine chemicals. The investment is part of a five-year programme, which will total US$45m (€50m).

Following the start-up of a qualified GMP-Kilolab in 2000 for small volume production, Chemie Uetikon is in a position to offer a complete service from lab-scale through pilot plant to production scale for multi-ton projects.
