The firm sees huge growth potential in the pharmaceutical sector

va-Q-tec, a provider of thermal insulation products, has opened a new Fulfilment Centre for its Serviced Rental business at its headquarters in Wuerzburg, Germany.

Here, various high-performance packaging systems, from thermal transport boxes to airfreight containers, are prepared.

In the new centre, in an area of 2,500 m2, up to 10,000 packaging systems with 11 to 74 litres of interior volume and 400 containers with a cargo capacity of up to two US/Euro pallets can be made available for temperature-controlled transport each month.

The passive packaging systems require no external energy sources during transport and enable the secure transport of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical and biotech products. Various temperature ranges between -60°C (or even below) and + 40°C are available.

Through the integration of high performance packages and the respective pre-conditioning services from the Fulfilment Centre, the transported goods can be maintained in the desired temperature range within 24 and 200 hours, even in extreme climatic ambient conditions.

'With our innovative Rental and Fulfilment Services for high-performance thermal transport boxes and containers we are setting new service standards in the pharmaceutical and cold chain logistics,' said Dr Joachim Kuhn, CEO and founder of va-Q-tec.

'Due to ever more stringent product security requirements, we currently see a huge growth potential in this market.'

Within its Serviced Rental business, va-Q-tec offers the rental of thermal containers and multi-use boxes and provides ancillary services such as preconditioning, cleaning, sterilisation or temperature tracking.

Such containers and boxes allow for a deviation-free transport of temperature sensitive goods with simple handling and minimum operating costs.

In close co-operation with leading logistics partners, va-Q-tec ensures that the packaging systems are delivered to the right pickup location at the agreed time and preconditioned to the desired temperature, so that they can be loaded as planned and sent to the final consignee.

After delivery, the logistics company takes care of the return of the empty containers to the respective va-Q-tec Fulfilment Centre where they are cleaned, sterilised and checked before they are brought into circulation again.
