Visilume takes the pressure off
UK-based Visilume has introduced a new range of Oseco pressure relief devices for aseptic and hygienic processes in the pharmaceutical and bioprocessing industries. Constructed from 316 stainless steel with smooth surfaces to avoid product build-up and minimise contamination, the discs are fully compliant with FDA regulations for hygienic service and can be provided with the ASME UD stamp if required.
Importantly, the standard fit integral gaskets - made from FDA-approved elastomers, including silicone, fluoropolymer and EPDM - obviate the requirement for special holders, cutting outlay costs and ensuring easy installation and spares sourcing. The comprehensive range covers virtually all requirements, with sizes from 25-100mm, burst pressures from 0.2-20 bar g and temperature capabilities up to 230°C.
Gas and liquid compatible, the discs are non-fragmenting to avoid possible product contamination and are designed to withstand all sterilisation and cleaning procedures without sustaining damage. A working pressure up to 95% of the minimum burst pressure also allows processes to be run at the optimal pressure for the design of the vessel. Options include a range of sensors for detecting operation of the disc, which relay an electrical signal to an alarm system.
