Weighed in the balance
UK-based Adam Equipment has launched a range of sophisticated, high precision analytical balances. The AEA Series has 0.01mg readability and is aimed at pharmaceutical, biotechnology and similar research laboratories. The same technology is also used in the new AEP Series of compact, top loading balances.
A keypad gives access to a range of operating modes, including a choice of weighing units, statistical information, checkweighing, parts counting using a sample or preset weight, and filling against a bar graph display; a density determination kit is also available. The LCD display guides the user through the set-up and operating procedures and a bar graph shows how much of the balance's weighing capacity has been used.
Although the balance is a stand-alone unit, its compact size means that text inputs are most easily handled via an external keyboard. The balance will print out full GLP documentation in the user's selected format, either directly to a printer or to a PC.
The balance also features an internal calibration procedure. Pressing a button on the key pad starts a servo motor, which automatically places an internal standard weight, carries out the calibration procedure and prints a validation document.
