Clinical technology firm ClinPhone, headquartered in Nottingham, UK, has launched ClinPhone drug accountability, the first complete web-based electronic solution to enable central management of the entire clinical supply chain.

Regulations for clinical trials require that all investigational materials are accounted for and reconciled from start to finish. ClinPhone's new software helps pharmaceutical sponsors to comply with these regulations, demonstrating a full chain of custody for every medication unit from dispatch to dispensation and destruction.

The programme facilitates the creation and maintenance of electronic documentation, management and tracking of clinical supplies, dispensing to patient, returns of medication packs and final destruction of supplies.

"We have introduced this product in direct response to a market need for more rigorous drug accountability processes", said Patrick Hughes, strategic business development and marketing director at ClinPhone.

"By integrating and centralising information through technology, sponsors are able to eliminate previous discrepancies and ensure the integrity of the data", he added.
