EU telematics timetable updated

Published: 1-Oct-2003

An updated timetable has been released for the rolling out of electronic communications networks and databases, boosting the circulation of information about pharmaceuticals in the European Union and speeding marketing decisions.

The detailed telematics guidelines include notes on the installation of a new Eudranet system until 2006, which is designed to hasten the safe exchange of pharmaceutical data between regulators.

Another section covers the roll-out of the EuroPHARM database, including harmonised information on all authorised products within the EU. A first version, covering centrally (EU) approved products, should be operational by December 2004.

Other services covered include Eudra-Vigilance, marketing approval e-submissions systems, and clinical trials databases.
