New exhibitors expand profile

The new, wider profile of Interphex has stimulated a lot of interest, says organiser Reed Exhibitions, and participating alongside suppliers of a range of equipment and services from laboratory scales to turnkey contracting are 26 first-time exhibitors, including Visiglas, Wave Biotech, Bibby Sterilin, and Watson Marlow Bredel.

The 'one-stop shop' philosophy appeals greatly to visitors. Garry Haswell, site engineering manager for Reckitt Benckiser, said about Interphex: 'It's good to see a range of suppliers of products that we will be purchasing in the next six months. Interphex also provides a good general picture of the industry with the latest technology.'

A number of exhibitors will use the show to launch products. Among them are Malvern Instruments with new particle size and shape analysers; LTE Scientific will be introducing a range of laboratory ovens and microbiological incubators; and Powder Engineering Systems has a 'revolutionary' new powder handling system. Both Fristam and Johnson will launch their latest hygienic pumps, while two water treatment specialists, Vivendi and Waterwise Technology, will demonstrate new systems. There will be an extensive preview of the show in the May issue of Manufacturing Chemist.

The free seminar programme is now almost finalised. In addition to the ISPE, The Parenteral Society and the Biotechnology Industry Association, the Centre for Genomic Research will discuss the generation of transgenics for disease modelling and drug target evaluation. In the industry sessions, Honeywell will present a paper on collaborative manufacturing for the life sciences industries, joining contributions on maintaining quality in a cost-effective environment and trends in pharmaceutical research.

Interphex takes place on 21-23 May at the NEC, Birmingham.
