Penn launches new stability testing facilities

Penn Pharmaceuticals Services has more than doubled the capacity of its stability testing facilities. Recent new business wins for the analytical development team have led to the significant expansion at the company's South Wales headquarters.

Penn has added a new single 25/60 temperature stability room, trebling its existing volume and providing significant capacity to increase its stability testing business. In addition, non-25/60 storage capacity has been more than doubled and additional lab space for analysts has been installed.

Paul Thomas, director of quality and analytical services, said: 'Increasingly we are seeing pharmaceutical companies of all sizes seeking to outsource this key element in the development process.

'The benefits of outsourcing are clear. Highly specialist facilities are required, along with experienced staff, on projects that usually last several years. It makes good sense for a lot of companies to pass this crucial part of the process to a specialist pharmaceutical services provider,' he said.
