Piramal Pharma debuts its sustainability report for 2023–24

The third annual report is themed around building resilience and revolves around Piramal's four main areas of focus

Piramal Pharma has released its 2023–2024 sustainability report. 

Under the theme 'building resilience today for a sustainable tomorrow', the document highlights the company's approach to sustainability through four key pillars, including:

  • Responsible operations
  • Business resilience
  • Customer centricity
  • Quality and excellence 

These pillars were designed for Piramal to focus on climate action, as well as supply chain responsibility, operational excellence and supply chain responsibility. 

The report focuses on 12 key areas of sustainability, and is supporting by more than 50 specific targets.

"Our latest Sustainability Report not only highlights the milestones we’ve achieved but also demonstrates our capability to adapt to evolving global standards. By revising our Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions and energy consumption for FY 2023, we have significantly improved
data accuracy, enabling us to assess and manage our environmental footprint."

"Looking ahead, we remain committed to driving sustainable growth; reinforcing our core purpose of ‘Doing Well and Doing Good,’ while strengthening our focus on making meaningful, measurable progress toward a more sustainable future."

Key aspects of the report include: 
 

  • Bolstering of energy efficiency efforts: The company has increased renewable energy consumption by 29%, while also committing itself to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 24% by 2030
  • Completion of energy audits: These identified opportunities for emission reductions through renewable energy sourcing (13%), low-carbon fuel switching (21%) and energy efficiency measures (7%)
  • Recycling and replanting: Across India and the UK, 80% of Piramal's non-hazardous waste was recycled, while the company also planted 2440 saplings
