US-based test, measurement and assembly company TASI Group has bought Sepha, a UK manufacturer of specialised equipment for package leak detection, product recovery and blister packaging, for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition will expand TASI’s business in the life sciences and provide Sepha with the resources to increase sales in North America, China and India and to fund R&D into new products.
Sepha’s customers, which include most of the world's top 50 pharma companies, will also benefit from TASI's worldwide network of sales and engineering staff.
Cincinnati-based TASI manufactures leak test and measurement equipment for the pharmaceutical, medical device, automotive, energy, plastics and industrial markets.
We will be accelerating product development to maintain Sepha's lead in the inspection sector in response to market demand
TASI President and CEO David Huberfield said: ‘We are very pleased to partner with Sepha in expanding our global life sciences markets and products. We are a leading global inspection and leak test provider with an expansive engineering, manufacturing and service presence on three continents and sales coverage in almost 100 countries.
‘Sepha joins Bonfiglioli Engineering; Air Logic Power Systems; Cincinnati Test Systems; and ATC Automation, all leaders in their field, in providing a complementary range of integrated test systems, pack inspection and instrumentation to pharmaceutical and medical device customers.’
Sepha CEO John Haran, added: ‘Sales of our pack inspection and deblistering machines have increased rapidly in recent years. Pharma companies are now very focused on the issues caused by poor packaging, namely increased costs and lower quality. We will be accelerating product development to maintain Sepha's lead in the inspection sector in response to market demand.’
