GW Pharmaceuticals’ finance director, David Kirk, will stand down from the Board on 1 June.
Adam George, who has been GW’s company secretary and group financial controller since 2007, will take over Kirk’s role. Kirk will continue to be available to the company in a consultancy capacity for an agreed period of time.
In addition, in view of the expansion of GW Pharmaceuticals’ operations since the launch of Sativex, the firm has decided to add a new executive role of chief operating officer to the Board. A search for this new position has begun.
George has played a significant role in all aspects of GW’s business and has been increasingly responsible for day-to-day financial management. Prior to joining the firm, he held several senior finance roles within listed and privately owned businesses.
From 2004–2007, George was finance director of Believe It Group (now 4Com plc), a telecommunications service provider, having been group financial controller from 2001–2004.
From 1997–2000, he was group financial controller at Helphire Group, and prior to this group financial accountant at Allied Domecq.
