Boulting Environmental Services (BES), based in Manchester, UK, has recently been awarded the turnkey design, construction and commissioning of a US$10m pharmaceutical production facility for a leading blue chip client.
The project includes strip out, demolition and refurbishment of an existing facility to provide new EU cGMP Grade D accommodation.
The detail design is almost complete and the facility will comprise new change rooms and reactors, freeze dryer areas and milling to house new vacuum ovens.
On this project, the latest 3D software has been used to good effect in generating rendered images to aid visualisation for the end users. A full-scale prototype of the Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) booth was built on site to prove the effectiveness of the innovative ventilation design.
During the past 12 months BES has also helped to complete the design of a new Cell Therapy Facility in Doha, Qatar, with a local partner Tadmur Trading.
The project was executed on a full turnkey basis with architectural, HVAC and electrical services designed and validated in accordance with EUcGMP standards.
Following a successful design phase here in the UK, BES travelled to Doha regularly to monitor construction and execute the IQ protocols.
“Working in ambient temperatures above 40 deg C was a challenge however we are pleased to report that on site validation work including DOP tests, Particle Counts, Clean up Rates and Smoke visualisation were carried out successfully and the Grade B facility is now up and running,” says the company.
