The BioIndustry Association (BIA) has appointed Nigel Gaymond as chief executive. Gaymond, president of Gaymond International, has worked in a range of roles in the international life sciences sector for more than 20 years. He will join the BIA in January 2010.
Following a period in sales and marketing at IBM in the UK, Gaymond moved to the British Consulate-General in Boston where he ran the commercial department in assisting the UK's biotechnology, healthcare and agriculture exports. He later established Gaymond International to provide consultancy services to a range of life sciences companies in the US and Europe.
Meanwhile, Scott Johnstone has become director, Scotland for the BIA. He is based in Edinburgh and will lead the BIA's work with the biotech community in Scotland.
Johnstone will work part-time for the BIA while also retaining his existing part-time role as chief executive of Antoxis.
