HRH The Duke of York has opened Stiefel Laboratories' Eurasia headquarters in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

The 4,645m2 office, which employs 180 people, consolidates Stiefel Laboratories' r&d and commercial entities in the UK and helps the company develop innovative skincare treatments. Stiefel already manufactures Oilatum for the treatment of eczema and claims to be the first to introduce benzoyl peroxide to treat acne.

The Duke of York toured the new offices with Gabriel McGlynn, Stiefel's senior vice president, Eurasia, and visited a photographic exhibition devoted to the company's 160-year history.

McGlynn said: "The move to Maidenhead is an important step for Stiefel Laboratories in the UK as it enables us to work more efficiently as a team rather than being based across two sites and ensures our focus will be on creating groundbreaking skincare solutions."

The Eurasia hq is carbon neutral and in recognition of this, the company was recently awarded a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Award) certificate of "Very Good".
