Peter Woods has joined GB Innomech as engineering and programme manager to help accelerate the company's penetration into the pharmaceutical, medical device and environmental sectors.
He takes charge of Innomech's project teams and will boost the company's existing expertise in developing automated, high-speed systems involved in the manufacture and testing of sophisticated new products and devices.
Before joining Innomech, Woods was product development manager at The Automation Partnership (TAP).
"Peter has first-class problem solving and project management skills and has helped many of the world's big brand pharmaceutical and biotech companies to use automation to reduce their costs, while driving up quality and productivity," said Steve Robertson, operations director at Innomech.
In 2008 Woods was one of four finalists for the UK's MacRobert Award, the UK's biggest engineering prize, organised by The Royal Academy of Engineering. He was short-listed for his work on the Polar system for UK Biobank.
Woods began his industrial career developing image analysis systems for automotive production lines in Germany.
